Summary of the EduCUA 2024 Program

In order to continue impacting the young people who will join the University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus, in the next semester, the EduCUA 2024 summer camp was held during the week of June 10 to 14, 2024. During these days, the participants engaged in a variety of workshops and activities designed to foster their personal and educational development. Below is a summary of the topics covered and the individuals in charge of each activity.

Monday, June 10:

  • Vejigantes Mask Painting Workshop (Part I and II): Facilitated by Bárbara Pérez and Luis Ramos from Taller Kenuati.
  • SpectrumX Workshop: Who Decides if You Have 5G?: Led by Cristian Gutiérrez and Jheison Lizcano from CARSE-CUA.

Tuesday, June 11:

  • Workshop: Yoga is for Everyone: Inclusion, Access, and Mental Health: Led by Lena Garay.
  • Workshop: Public Health and Wellbeing: Presented by Evangeli Sepúlveda and Génesis Alvelo.
  • SpectrumX Workshop: How to Design Your Own Crystal Radio: With Cristian Gutiérrez and Jheison Lizcano.

Wednesday, June 12:

  • Field Trip to Isla Magueyes in Lajas: Guided by Delmis Alicea from the Sea Grant program.

Thursday, June 13:

  • Puppet Workshop (Part I and II): With Noemí Maldonado and Carhianie Vargas Padín.
  • Workshop: Educational Psychology and Play: Facilitated by Ana Nieves.

Friday, June 14:

  • Talk: Breaking Barriers and Overcoming Obstacles with Autism Together: Presented by Emireth López, César Flores, and Daniel Reyes.
  • Seismic Network Talk: Led by Daniel Valentín and Yesenia Figueroa.
  • Visit to the Seismic Network: Guided by the same team from the talk.
  • Closing and Celebration: With music by David González.

The camp was an enriching experience that offered young people a unique opportunity for learning and personal development, combining cultural, educational, and recreational activities in an inclusive and stimulating environment. It was an unforgettable week for all participants!
